Nope - not yet

Very slight bit of soreness at the sfx site as I awoke this morning - I wasn't even positive I might be imagining it but after about 10 steps into starting a run and still feeling - well - I'm going to follow a 2 week off protocol and try again.

kinda feels like I got to eat two chips out of the bag and now I have to stop ... better that than start another 3 months off like last time ...... I just want to run - this is taking FOREVER :( ....

Hi John,
Glad to hear your MRI looked better, but sorry to hear about the return of the soreness. So, you didn't feel any issues on the first 2 runs? I guess that is a good sign.
I feel your pain. I have been out 64 days now and although I didn't get an MRI I was feeling good enough that I felt like I was ready for a slow return. This past Saturday (2 days ago) I walked with my wife like I do every morning for about 2 to 3 miles and part of the way in I planned a .4 mile run. I have to say I didn't feel bad pain, but then again this injury has never caused me severe pain. I still had a lingering soreness in the adductor/hip area and some tightness in my pubic region. This is maddening, I know how you feel. I am going to give it at least a week, and probably two before I try again.
How are you handling this mentally? Are you really staying as upbeat as you sound? I am starting to really get down as I miss the running so much and given that this doesn't seem to completely go away I just don't know when, and if, I will ever be able to run pain free again. I am hoping things work out for you, and soon, this is starting to get old.
Stay well and enjoy the heat.
Michael

Hey BoulderMike,

Of course I've gone thru many ups and downs over the last 8 months of this injury. But after 8 months a couple weeks just doesn't seem like a big deal anymore. This does take the Amsterdam Marathon most definately off the table for this year but as I started to add up the cost to run that race (I would have flown my wife out too) it started to seem too expensive for an out of shape marathon anyway so in a way I'm kinda glad to take that off the table. Also having a goal like that sitting out there might have made me take stupid chances in coming back.

Maybe SAM or CIM or Houston .... we'll see how long this thing takes.

Agreed, 2 more weeks is a drop in the bucket. Amsterdam would have been nice. I used to go there a lot on business when I worked for a Petrochemical Trading company years ago. I really want to run London one year but ....
I am registered to run Chicago and SAM but at this point Chicago looks like a no go for sure, and SAM is ify if I don't get back pronto.
Since I have to travel anyway, if I run a January race it would probably be Phoenix again, but who knows, it would also be nice to get back to see my friends in Houston.
I know this sounds crazy, given as how I can't run at all now, but when I do start running again I might stop focusing on time goals, and Boston, and work on more trail running with the goal of "running" 50 mile ultras. Maybe one like Lean Horse in South Dakota. I don't think I am up for Leadville.
Again, my thoughts are with you in hopes that 2 weeks will be the end of this nightmare for you.
For me, I don't know. I am just tired of being out of shape.

Oops, I meant CIM, not SAM. CIM deferred me from the 2008 race because of my foot injury then.

Bummer....keep the recovery nice and slow; taking the next two weeks off is well worth the avoided risk of another three months off.

I hear you, John. It's amazing to me how these things tend to be two steps up and one step back. I just try to be thankful for all of the years that I've been able to run, and I think about how I'm going to enjoy running just that much more when I'm able to do it again.

Hang in there--this too shall pass...
